This painting describes the ephemeral nature of luck. The rabbits bring luck, but one is eating a four leafed clover as the others disappear into a hole in the wall. Meanwhile, a black cat looks on, surrounded by poppies which are a symbol of bad luck. The girl tries to make her own luck by cheating, as she drops cards that disappear into the ground.
